“60% of care-givers in mental health suffer a burn-out”

After a break of two years imposed by the Covid19 pandemic, the Mental Health Association (MHA) renewed the organisation of its traditional annual course with the first session delivered on Friday, 11 March. The course is a flagship activity of the Association and appeals in particular to mental health care-givers, students, responsible carers, parents and relatives, and the general public that needs to be more aware of mental health conditions, and on how these situations can be tackled to ease difficulties and hardship on patients and those supporting them.

The course, also offered under the Degree Plus programme with the University of Malta, offers a series of 10 talks in Maltese, delivered by health professionals in the mental health field. Carers' experiences are also shared to provide an enriching life-experience platform where individuals can feel understood and supported in their vital roles as a care-giver. For the first time the course has been organised in a hybrid fashion, where both physical presence and online participation have been made possible. To date, there are approximately 100 course participants, proving that the demand for information in mental health is at an all-time high.

MHA welcomes late applications for this course which is being offered free of charge.

More information can be found on the MHA Malta Facebook page. One may apply by sending an email to: [email protected] or by texting on 7980 0080.
