Watch: Barracuda restaurant scaffolding threatens to topple over, causing traffic jams

Monday, 2 May 2022, 18:29 Last update: about 3 years ago

A scaffolding affixed to the façade of the Barracuda restaurant in St Julian’s came undone on Monday afternoon, threatening to topple over and crash into the street below.

The area was cordoned off by police, leading to massive traffic jams in the area.

Video shared on social media showed the metal structure swaying in the wind, with one bystander heard saying that all it would take to topple it over was another gust of wind.

The video also shows a worker on the roof struggling to secure the structure using what looks like a piece of rope or wire.

It is understood that the upper part of the three-storey structure was later dismantled.

The police said later that the road had been re-opened to traffic.
