1,228 final deeds of sale for residential properties signed in August

In August 2022, the number of final deeds of sale relating to residential property amounted to 1,228, a 5% increase when compared to those registered a year earlier, the National Statistics Office (NSO) said.

"The value of these deeds totalled €280.1 million, 13.1% higher than the corresponding value recorded in August 2021. In the month under review, 1,112, or 90.6%, of these final deeds of sale involved individual buyers (households), with companies accounting for virtually all the rest."

" The value of the deeds involving individual buyers (households) amounted to €236.4 million, equivalent to 84.4% of the total value.

With regard to the region the property is situated in, the highest numbers of final deeds of sale were recorded in the two regions of Gozo, and Żabbar, Xgħajra, Żejtun, Birżebbuġa, Marsascala and Marsaxlokk, at 184 and 155 respectively. The lowest numbers of deeds were noted in the region of Birgu, Senglea, Cospicua and Kalkara, and the region of Attard, Balzan, Iklin and Lija. In these regions, 24 and 45 deeds were recorded respectively.

Promise of sale agreements

In August 2022, 918 promise of sale agreements relating to residential property were registered, equivalent to a 3.4% increase over the previous year. Individual potential buyers (households) accounted for 863, or 94%, of these agreements, while the rest mainly involved companies. The largest numbers of promise of sale agreements corresponded to residential properties situated in the two regions of Birkirkara, Gżira, Msida, Ta' Xbiex and San Ġwann, and Żabbar, Xgħajra, Żejtun, Birżebbuġa, Marsascala and Marsaxlokk, totalling 121 and 113 respectively, the NSO said.

"The lowest numbers were noted in respect of properties located in the region of Birgu, Senglea, Cospicua and Kalkara, and the region of Mdina, Dingli, Rabat, Mtarfa and Mġarr. The first-mentioned region accounted for 19 agreements and the second accounted for 25 agreements."
