Finalists of Arts in Public Spaces programme announced

The two projects that have made it to the final from among 12 proposals that were submitted for the Arts in Public Spaces programme have been announced by The Minister for Public Works and Planning Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi

These projects are 'A fine balance' by artist Ivan Coleiro and 'Embryonic Horse' by artist Rune Bo Jakobsen.

A new call for proposals is being opened today to select four more artistic projects.

The Minister explained that this programme is giving artists a public platform where they can show their vision with the aim of increasing the public's appreciation for this artistic work, whilst also raise the level of the artists.

The program is being financed by the Department for Public Works and Planning, the artists, in collaboration with  local councils. Additionally the program will present the opportunity for artists  to continue exhibiting their talent whilst also offer various attractions to increase the appreciation for art among the public.

Azzopardi Zrinzo said that the artists will be given €30,000 each for the projects that are chosen.

Present was also Martin Formosa, a member from the selection board, who explained that apart from serving as an opportunity for artists to exhibit their projects in public spaces permanently, it is also a means of areas can be beautified with artistic works that complement the environment of the place wherever they are placed in Malta and Gozo.

Submissions can be made until Friday, 16 December 2022.
