The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Malta - 25th Anniversary Celebration

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Malta celebrated 25 years since its founding.

This auspicious moment was celebrated at the Westin Dragonara Resort, St Julian's on Friday 4th November in collaboration with Novartis.

To mark this special occasion, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Malta in collaboration with Novartis organised an Educational Event for Multiple Sclerosis Patients in Malta which focused on the recent Advances in Multiple Sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neuro degenerative disease which affects approximately 450 persons in Malta.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Malta and Novartis are committed to increase patient education on Multiple Sclerosis in Malta, so that patients can have better discussions with their healthcare professionals leading to better patient outcomes.

The MS Society of Malta holds regular educational meetings for the members as it is imperative that the patients understand their condition. This occasion was no different and the highlight of the 25th Anniversary event was the excellent educational talk delivered Dr Adrian Pace, Consultant Neurologist, who addressed the audience on the latest advances in Multiple Sclerosis and the importance of early intervention with high efficacy treatments.

The MS Society of Malta took the opportunity of the 25th anniversary celebrations to launch their new website and the second phase of the project, the Online Shop thanks through funding by SIS and the Simply Giving Platform aimed at generating funds for much needed research and data collection of Multiple Sclerosis in Malta. Mr Tony Cassar of Cyberspace gave an interesting presentation about the website, Online Shop and the Simply Giving Platform.

The Honorable Minister for Social Inclusion and Voluntary Organisations Julia Farrugia Portelli said a few words of encouragement, she showed compassion towards the patient and expressed the importance of volunteering. Hon Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli cut the Anniversary Cake together with the President of the MS Society, Ms Carmen Muscat. The event was attended by many honourable guests, leading neurologists and members of the MS Society.
