An uproarious farce

Sunday, 26 February 2023, 09:00 Last update: about 2 years ago

Don't believe the rumours. Malta's police force is alive and well and hell-bent on nailing Danny Weed for drug trafficking. Our ace anti-drug unit, led by the formidable inspector and her veteran sergeant, will find the evidence against Danny if it's the last thing they do. They are helped by recruits, Redent and Byron, eager to impress and prove themselves. Really, how can this mission fail?

This is the situation in the new play by Alfred Buttigieg, L-Arrest ta' Danny Weed. It's an uproarious farce offering audiences fast-paced action, glorious slapstick and physical comedy as the blundering recruits proceed to wreck the inspector's careful plans and the raid descends into pure, well, farce.

Each of Buttigieg's plays is completely different from his previous works. Here is his first farce. These days we need the catharsis of laughter more than ever. This rollicking play will provide it.

Michael Fenech will be directing and the cast will be made up of Audrey Scerri, Chris Spiteri, James Ryder, Matthew Sant, Simon Curmi and Sean Briffa.

This project is supported by Arts Council Malta.

The play will be performed at the Blue Box Theatre, Msida on 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 March.
