Joy Gospel Singers under the musical direction of Michelle Marie Abela, are stepping up rehearsals for their 25 March concert in aid of the St Jeanne Antide Foundation. The programme includes an entertaining selection of Joy Gospel Singers' original interpretation of a variety of traditional spiritual and contemporary gospel songs, in their usual uplifting style. The joyful style will be enhanced by the talented participation of the children's choir led by Phylisienne Brincat and the young musicians of the Swieqi Academy Orchestra under the direction of Kristina Dimic. Well established local singer Chris Grech, who has already performed with Joy Gospel Singers in the past, will once again entertain the audience with his rock style voice and interpretation.
The St Jeanne Antide Foundation is known for its impactful social solidarity services benefiting individuals and families in distress facing complex life challenges. Founded in late 2007, it has been operating a community based social work service since then mostly focused on struggling families from the localities of Tarxien, Paola, Fgura, Birżebbuġa and Santa Lucia. It also runs SOAR - a service run by trained and mentored survivors of domestic violence; and LWIEN - a service providing professional consultancies to overwhelmed family caregivers of mentally ill persons. Its Social Volunteering programme has around 56 active volunteers who assume various support roles that include Mentoring, Learning Support, Befriending, Admin Support and running a Charity Shop. All proceeds from this concert will be donated towards the running of these various child and family support services.
This is the third time that St Jeanne Antide Foundation are teaming up with Joy Gospel Singers through a Fundraising Concert, and both organisations are looking forward to a generous response from the public to make this another successful endeavour.
