Transport Malta has issued a statement clarifying that "in response to the video that is circulating, where it shows the intersection in Triq San Mikiel in Fgura closed to traffic in the form of 'one way' entry signs from all sides, it has taken the necessary steps in the matter of the contractor who failed to remove such signs."
The widely circulated video on Facebook exposed how a lack of planning in roadworks leads to so much frustration.
The person taking the video shows how cars arriving from San Mikiel Street, in Fgura, end up with nowhere to go as all roads forming the crossroads have a no-entry sign, with two of them indicating that there are roadworks in the area.
Going back up San Mikiel Street is also not a legal option because of no entry signs there too.
Transport Malta concluded by stating that "the contractor will be liable for a fine as stipulated in the contract between the Authority and the contractor."
