Maltese animated series ‘Dalam Valley’ receives a nomination at the International Festival of Animat

Toontuloon Animation Studio, renowned for its creative storytelling and captivating visuals, is thrilled to announce that the pilot episode of its original animated series Dalam Valley has been nominated for the prestigious Pulcinella Award at the Cartoons on the Bay festival organised by Rai Com.

Episode one of Dalam Valley showcases the talent and artistic vision of Toontuloon Animation Studio; setting the stage for a remarkable series that promises to captivate audiences of all ages. The nomination at the Cartoons on the Bay festival serves as a testament to the exceptional quality and innovation displayed in the pilot.

The spark that inspired the story originated from the archaeological evidence of prehistoric fauna exhibited in the Għar Dalam museum in Birżebbuġa. Dalam Valley transports viewers to a moment in Maltese prehistory when the islands are connected to the mainland due to lower sea levels. The world of Dalam Valley is filled with endearing characters, gripping narratives and charming animation. Drawing inspiration from diverse cultural influences and weaving together a tapestry of adventure, humour and emotion, the series promises to immerse audiences by its original storytelling.

Rai Com organises the International Festival of Animation, Transmedia and Meta-Arts, Cartoons on the Bay, to support and showcase the current landscape, developments and new trends in the sector of media and entertainment. The 27th edition of the festival will be held between 31 May and 4 June in Pescara, Italy.

The Dalam Valley series is partly funded by Screen Malta and the Arts Council Malta. Toontuloon Studio is supported by Malta Enterprise incentives.
