Tourism minister apologises for indecent comment towards PN MP

Monday, 29 May 2023, 16:50 Last update: about 12 months ago

Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo has formally apologised in Parliament to PN Spokesperson for Lands Rebekah Borg.

Last week Bartolo was caught saying that he "can't stand" Borg, during parliamentary question time.

Borg shared a clip of this on her Facebook page on Sunday.

Forgetting to turn off his microphone, Bartolo seemed audibly upset in reaction to Borg who stood up to press Bartolo with a parliamentary question.

In parliament on Monday, Borg asked for Bartolo to table the apology despite him sending the e-mail to her personally, adding that she "want[s] it to be registered in parliament".

She added that she wishes for such behaviour to be avoided in the future, especially given that members of parliament in general "are just doing their job".
