Hospice Malta, Malta's leading NGO dedicated to providing free palliative care services to patients and their families, announced the launch of their annual fundraising telethon, Bl-Imħabba Tiegħek Naslu. The telethon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 9 July, from 11am to 11pm, and will be broadcasted on local television stations.

The primary objective of the telethon is to raise funds that will enable Hospice Malta to continue delivering holistic palliative care services free of charge to thousands of patients suffering from various life-limiting conditions, including cancer, motor-neuron disease, end-of-life, cardiac, renal, and liver diseases. Additionally, the funds raised will contribute to the completion of the final stages of the new St Michael Hospice, Malta's first palliative care complex.

The press conference, held at the Presidential Palace at San Anton on 31st May, was graced by the presence of Mrs. Miriam Vella, First Lady and Patron of Hospice Malta. Speaking on behalf of the entire Hospice team and the families it supports, Ms Bernadette Bonnici Kind, Chairperson of Hospice Malta, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Miriam Vella for her ongoing support. Bonnici Kind highlighted Hospice Malta's 34-year commitment to providing comprehensive palliative care and emphasized the significance of St. Michael Hospice in expanding its services and introducing new in-patient facilities. She appealed to generous benefactors to continue supporting Hospice Malta as they approach the finalization of this essential project.

Kenneth Delia, CEO of Hospice Malta, echoed Bonnici Kind's sentiments, emphasizing the critical stage of completion for the much-awaited St. Michael Hospice. Delia highlighted that the state-of-the-art complex will have a profound impact on the lives of many, allowing Hospice Malta to extend its reach and provide comprehensive care addressing not only physical health but also psychosocial and spiritual aspects. Delia appealed to the public and business community for their support in making this vision a reality.

During her speech, Miriam Vella, First Lady of Malta and Patron of Hospice Malta, made a heartfelt appeal stating: "When one finds him/herself in the depths of life's most challenging moments, Hospice Malta stands as a beacon of solace, offering unwavering support to individuals and their families on their palliative care journey. Let us all together unite and actively contribute towards this year's fundraising marathon so that we can amplify Hospice Malta's impact and ensure that no one faces the trials of such devastating illness alone."

Alexia Demicoli, Hospice Malta Chief Relations Officer gave a detailed run-through of the programme, noting: "The Hospice Malta fundraising 12-hour telethon will be broadcasted from Studio 7 in B'Kara where we will be welcoming donations and pledges from various organisations, individuals and businesses. During the broadcast, we will be showcasing several interviews with Hospice patients and their relatives and how Hospice has helped create an environment where every life, every story, and every cherished memory is treasured until the very end. We are on the final stretch of a marathon, where every donation truly counts. Together, we have come so far in our journey to complete St Michael Hospice. With each donation and act of compassion, we draw closer to the finish line and continue making a lasting difference in the lives of those we care for without expecting anything in return. The launch of our telethon initiative is a remarkable opportunity for us to extend our love and support to those in need. Make a lasting difference in the lives of those we care for."

Hospice Malta urges the public to show their support and generosity to fulfil this dream for the Maltese and Gozitan population. Donations for the telethon can be made through various channels, including calls, SMS, pledges, BOV Mobile, and online donations.
