Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that he has "faith in the institutions that they will do what's right" when asked whether he has faith in the inquiry and whether he believes he is being framed.

Two weeks ago, Muscat filed an urgent case to remove inquiring magistrate Magistrate Gabriella Vella from the magisterial inquiry into the hospitals' concession deal, after she refused Muscat's request to recuse herself. Muscat had said that he filed this case because of the continuous leaks of the inquiry.

Muscat testified in front of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) over the Electrogas agreement on Tuesday. The PAC is examining the Auditor General's report relating to the contracts awarded to Electrogas by the Enemalta Corporation.

Outside parliament following the PAC sitting, Muscat responded in the affirmative when asked by media whether he supports Former Minister Konrad Mizzi's actions with regard to the Electrogas agreement.

"I am not afraid. I do not have fear because I have also said the truth," Muscat said when asked by the media if is afraid of being arrested.

The third National Audit Office report into the hospitals' concession agreement said that former Minister Konrad Mizzi "engineered" the side agreement which would have seen Steward receive €100 million if the hospitals' concession was terminated by "misleading Cabinet."

Asked whether he believed that the cabinet was misled, he reiterated that he does not believe that cabinet was misled.

Asked by the press whether he had resigned as Prime Minister because of Daphne Caruana Galizia's murder and the corruption that was going on at the time, Muscat said that there is no doubt that this was linked to everything that was going on in the country at the time.

In light of all the implications following the arrest of the former Chief of Staff Keith Schembri, Muscat said that he felt that he needed to "shoulder responsibility."
