Leading architect, Nicholas Bewick, will be joining the jury panel for the Din l-Art Ħelwa XVII Architectural Heritage awards competition, bringing a wealth of expertise and experience in the field of heritage.

Bewick is the art director for Architecture at Michele De Lucchi's AMDL Circle Studio in Milan, involved in research and the conception of international architectural projects.

Following his initial professional experience at Michael Hopkins Architects in London, he moved to Milan in 1985 to explore Italian creative culture and undertake a Masters in Design at the Domus Academy. After completing the course he started his long-term collaboration with renowned architect Michele De Lucchi.

Over the years, he has led major projects for important organisations and institutions such as Olivetti, Deutsche Bank and Deutsche Bahn and overseen award-winning pavilions for UniCredit in Milan and Novartis in Basel.

There are three categories for the competition: the regeneration of an area, the adaptation of historical buildings to new uses and the restoration and/or conservation of buildings. Projects can relate either to a single building, a complex of buildings or to a historic urban environment or townscape.

The Judge Maurice Caruana Curran award, named after DLH's founder, will be awarded to the best winner overall in all categories.  

The jury will be chaired by DLĦ council member Maria Grazia Cassar, together with architect Joanna Spiteri Staines. Prof. Conrad Thake and Prof. Antonio Mollicone.

Submissions for the XVII Din l-Art Ħelwa Architectural Heritage Awards should be for projects completed by 31 March. Submissions must be received at Din l-Art Ħelwa, 133 Melita Street, Valletta by Friday, 29 September.
