A man died early on Saturday when he was hit by a car at the entrance of the southbound St Julian's tunnels, the police said.
The accident took place at 2.20am in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli Road.
The man, a 25-year-old from Denmark, was hit by a Honda Accord driven by a 44-year man of Mosta.
The pedestrian was certified dead on site.
Magistrate Joseph Gatt is leading an inquiry.
