The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health, Chris Fearne, together with the Minister for Gozo, Clint Camilleri, inaugurated a new Health Centre in Rabat, Gozo.

The modern Health Centre, spread over two floors, will strengthen the primary healthcare policy in the community, specifically in Gozo by offering 12 services to Gozitan patients close to their homes.

The two Ministries said in a joint statement that it will provide a range of services to patients that were previously only offered by the Gozo General Hospital.

Among the services are family doctor services, blood tests, vaccinations, eye care, electrocardiograms (ECGs), warfarin clinic, diabetes clinic, wound care, specialized clinic for individuals with Down's Syndrome, and a health and wellness clinic (GU clinic).

Fearne said that the Health Centre, which was funded by the money put into the NDSF by Malta’s golden passport scheme, aims to integrate with the existing services in Gozo, including the Primary Healthcare Centres in the communities of Xewkija, Għarb, and, in the coming weeks, Qala.

The digital investment allows residents of Malta and Gozo to utilize any Health Centre or Primary Healthcare Clinic in the community and access patient information digitally.

Fearne expressed gratitude to the employees of the Foundation for Medical Services (FMS) for their infrastructural work and the workers in Primary Healthcare who will soon operate from this Centre.

Camilleri meanwhile highlighted the strategic location of the new Health Centre in the centre of Gozo’s capital and mentioned the government's commitment to better meet the healthcare needs of Gozitans.

He emphasized that this Centre, along with the recently opened community clinic in Għarb and another planned for Qala, aims to enhance the healthcare services available in Gozo.

Minister Camilleri concluded by affirming the government's dedication to investing in the citizens' health and providing top-notch healthcare services in the Maltese islands.
