In front of a packed room on Wednesday 24 January 2924 Artcurial presented the collection and library of the Counts of Marcellus. An exceptional cast of the Venus de Milo from Marcellus' castle was on display. Viscount Lodoïs de Marcellus (1795-1861), diplomat, friend of Ingres and collaborator of Chateaubriand, is known for having negotiated the acquisition of the Venus de Milo by France.

Pre-empted by the Louvre at €57,728 / $62,978 including fees, the work will return to the ranks of the famous museum where it was born.
The Historical Memories sale, which doubled its estimate and totaled €471,475 / $514,355 including fees, also offered a Portrait bust of Charles X, King of France, in coronation costume from Baron Gérard's workshop, which soared to €38,048 / $41,508 including fees, multiplying by 15 its estimate.
