Three hospitalised after Santa Venera traffic accident

Three people were hospitalised after a traffic accident in Santa Venera on Saturday night.

Police said that the accident happened at around 8:15pm in Triq il-Kbira San Guzepp in Santa Venera, and involved a Smart Fortwo and a Skoda Superb.

The Smart was driven by a 64-year-old man from Msida, who was hospitalised as a result of the accident, and the Skoda was driven by a 20-year-old man from Birkirkara.

Two other men – a 57-year-old from Hamrun and a 54-year-old from Valletta – were injured as they were hit by one of the cars as they were walking on the pavement.

They too were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Smart was certified as suffering from grievous injuries, while the pedestrians were certified as suffering from light injuries.

Police said that investigations are ongoing.
