Tell us about Kikka's Childcare Centre and give us a rundown of its development?
Kikka's Childcare Centre commenced operations three years ago, officially opening on 1 July 2021, after a thriving open day, where parents eagerly enrolled their children. Initially launched with three educators, including the managing director, the centre quickly expanded to accommodate a growing demand, boasting a team of seven educators together with the MD. Today, Kikka's serves 24 children, continually refining its approach through ongoing professional development and experiential learning.
How did you come up with the idea of Kikka's Childcare Centre?
The idea for Kikka's Childcare Centre grew from my decade-long journey in the childcare sector. Starting out as a child carer in six different centres, I immersed myself in understanding the needs and dynamics of early childhood education. Pursuing further studies in childcare management solidified my aspiration to establish a centre that embodies best practices and inclusive care. Drawing from my experience as a childcare manager, I envisioned Kikka's as a place where I could implement all that I had learned.
What obstacles do you think working parents face in childcare?
Working parents often encounter significant challenges, balancing professional responsibilities with the needs of childcare. These challenges include navigating unpredictable work schedules and ensuring their children receive quality care and education. At Kikka's Childcare Centre we understand these obstacles and strive to alleviate them by offering flexible scheduling options, transparent communication with parents and a nurturing environment that supports children's holistic development.
What advice would you give to other women starting a similar business or any other business?
My advice to women starting a childcare centre or any business is to stay true to your passion and vision. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, surround yourself with a supportive team and prioritise continuous learning and adaptation. Trust in your abilities and persevere through setbacks, knowing that each obstacle is a stepping stone to success
How does your social media help parents improve the lives of their children?
Our social media presence at Kikka's Childcare Centre serves as a valuable platform to engage and support parents in enhancing their children's lives. Through regular updates, informative posts and interactive content, we provide parents with insights into our educational approach, upcoming events and child development tips. This helps parents stay informed and involved in their child's journey at our centre. Moreover, our social media channels foster a sense of community among parents, encouraging collaboration and sharing of parenting experiences that ultimately contribute to enriching the lives of all children under our care.
What is the most challenging about what you do and what is most rewarding?
The most challenging aspect of my role as director of Kikka's Childcare Centre is navigating the dynamic landscape of childcare regulations and ensuring compliance while maintaining high standards of care and education. Balancing operational demands with the nurturing environment we strive to provide can be demanding but immensely fulfilling. The most rewarding part is witnessing the positive impact our centre has on children's lives and seeing them thrive in our care. Building meaningful relationships with families and seeing children develop academically, socially and emotionally are the greatest rewards of my work.
What inspiration do you get from your daily life and what are your goals/dreams for the future?
I draw inspiration from the boundless curiosity and joy of the children we care for. Their eagerness to learn and grow motivates me to continually innovate and enhance our educational programmes. My goal for the future is to expand Kikka's outreach, ensuring more families in our community have access to quality childcare and early education. Ultimately, I dream of creating a lasting impact on children's lives, empowering them to thrive academically and emotionally as they progress through their formative years.
