The Salesian Brigade Summer Camp was a thrilling and enriching experience for 30 enthusiastic campers who spent six remarkable days at Ghajn Tuffieha Barracks. This year's camp, inspired by the UEFA Euro 2024, was packed with fun, competition and camaraderie.

Three teams competed fiercely throughout the camp, participating in various duties and activities. The standout team this year was Spain, led by M. Bugeja, who proudly hoisted the Fr J. Borg SDB shield as the overall winners. Among the many highlights, Amy Pirotta Harmsworth and Matteo Calleja Tonna were recognised as the best female and male campers.

The camp's success was the result of meticulous planning by a dedicated group of five NCOs who held numerous meetings beforehand, ensuring every detail was perfect. A small contingent of B Company members and NCOs also lent a hand during the advance party, assisting with the pitching of canvas tents.

Under the scorching August sun, campers were instructed on essential health and safety protocols, personal hygiene, and participated in the celebration of mass. The traditional Salesian "good nights" provided moments of reflection and spiritual growth.

The camp was also filled with a wide array of fun activities, including icebreakers, water games, karaoke, kayaking, sandcastle building, cooking, a quiz and swimming. A unique ongoing craft project saw each group constructing a fully functional traditional cart that represented their EURO 2024 team colours. Sports and tournaments kept the campers active, while an obstacle course tested their endurance to the limit. The campfire night, complete with singalongs and skits, was a cherished tradition, culminating in a BBQ where parents and friends joined in to close the camp.

Each day began with a rise and shine, followed by flag assemblies where campers donned their Salesian Brigade t-shirts and caps. These assemblies, complete with drill and prayer, instilled a sense of order, discipline and identity among the campers.

The Salesian Brigade extends its heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the camp's success, including the leaders, supervisors, sponsors and those who managed the cookhouse and supported the camp in various ways. Their collective efforts ensured that the Salesian Brigade summer camp was an experience to remember for all involved.
