The details of the New Year's Eve event that will be staged in St George's Square in Valletta have been revealed by the Ministry for National Heritage and the Valletta Cultural Agency (VCA).

The Ministry described the event as "the biggest event of the end of the year" in Malta, adding that it is expected that over 50,000 people will be in attendance and that there will be several local and international artists participating.

Minister Owen Bonnici said that this event offers a unique opportunity for the public to enjoy a "wonderful atmosphere and music while enjoying the talent of the various local and international artists". He continued that with this event, "We will greet the year 2024 in the best way and start 2025 as one united Maltese and Gozitan people". He added that celebrations include fireworks shows and musical performances.

Jason Micallef, the Chairman of the VCA, emphasised that this event is the largest local event in celebration of the New Year, and added that it will be staged free of charge right in the heart of Valletta. He encouraged people to visit Malta's capital on the special occasion so that they can enjoy the atmosphere and greet the new year together.

The Ministry said that artists that will be taking part in the event include Ira Losco, The Red Electric, Shaun Farrugia, Kevin Paul, DJ Koroma, and DJ Miggy. It continued that the highlight of the celebrations will be through the international artist CASCADA. It stated that there will be a great display of aerial fireworks in the Grand Harbour at the stroke of midnight, and added that DJ D-REY will be closing the evening.

The event will be presented by Dorianne Mamo, Taryn Mamo Cefai, Owen Bonnici, and Keane Cutajar, and the celebrations will be shown live on local television stations. The New Year's eve celebrations in Valletta are organised by G7 events with a partnership agreement with the VCA within the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government. The Ministry added that the event is supported by the Malta Tourism Authority.
