I’ve had an angel on my shoulder all my life - Barbara Hale

Sandrina England's exhibition Angel Drawings: "I thought I Heard An Angel Singing" will be launched this coming Wednesday 4 December at 6.30pm

Sandrina England needs no introduction. Born in Malta she has art in her DNA for she is the daughter of the renowned architect and creator of beauty and Myriam her mother who introduced Ikabana in Malta. Sandrina is also a fashion designer. She received her education at the Sacred Heart Convent in Malta and later at Miramonte Finishing School in Montreux, Switzerland. She studied art initially in Malta and later in Florence and at St Martins College of Art, London. She also studied iconography at Le Mona stère de L'Enfant Jesus Roi D'Amour in France. As a fashion designer she has had various fashion shows, including two in aid of the Pestalozzi World's Children's Trust, one of which was held at the Savoy Hotel in London together with eminent fashion designers including Paul Costello and Zandra Rhodes. She has also had solo exhibitions at the Angeli Gallery and the Mdina Cathedral Museum in Malta. Amongst other prizes for her art, she won first prize for portraiture at the Maltese Biennale. Her works are featured in a publication Angels, Warriors and Saints with a text by philosopher and ex-university rector Peter Serracino Inglott.

Sandrina writes about this exhibition: "Since my childhood years I have been fascinated by angels and I confess that at times I have even felt their presence. Now in maturity, as my soul is stilled and my spirit enhanced, I am attempting to delineate their angelic essence as well-springs for prayer and spiritual enhancement. I believe that angels express the ethereal and transcendental and draw us to the heights of spiritual life.

The drawings are dedicated to all members of my family as an ardent prayer for their physical and spiritual well-being.

Angels of heaven wrap your feathered wings around my loved ones, safeguard their earthly existence and shepherd them to the portals of heaven."

Sandrina England's exhibition is being held at the Visitors Centre, 9 Church street, Mosta, right side of the Dome, upstairs. Opening hours 8am to 8pm. It is open until 4 January 2025.
