‘Id-Dar tad-Dellijiet’. Author: Salv Sammut. Publisher: Horizons / 2024. Pages: 281

The author poses this time as the head of a publication house, who is doing quite well publishing book after book and satisfying the requests by the reading public for more and more books.

This time he has received a manuscript which came together with a recommendation from the minister.

When he finally reviews it, he discovers numerous stylistic errors and realizes it requires extensive revisions.

He has just purchased a big house quite cheaply but his faithful dog does not seem to like it - it senses there is something weird about it.

On to the next level. The house is hidden away in a grove of trees next to a beach.

It guards the history of three generations of the same family - a history of pain and damage. It also includes some early and inexplicable deaths.

This is rather a tour de force by the author especially considering his most recent novels.
