Second edition of Malta Cross Music competition

Sunday, 19 January 2025, 08:45 Last update: about 23 days ago

This year the Malta Cross Music competition will hold its second edition in Malta from 7 to 10 April at the Malta Society of Arts. This unique theatre was chosen because of its capacity when it comes to audience and the size of its stage. The opening of the competition, which was launched on 28 November in Prague, was held at C. Bechstein Centrum Pianos.

Veronika Liskova, the winner of the first competition, attended along with her professor from the conservatorium in Prague, as well as students and other guests. There will now be a get-together on 15 February, this time with the new Czech contestants.

The competition will last four days with competitors, judges, a master class and mini concerts taking place in Malta. The themes will be film music, classical music, traditional music and the competitors will also be able to choose their favourite music. This will be a unique opportunity not only for the competitors but also for friends and families to join in. There will be no entrance fee but a small donation to help the MCMC will be most welcome. There are some great prizes lined up to be won. It will also be a great experience for those attending.

The committee is looking for contestants aged between 16 and 36 years. This will be an international competition. Both male and female contestants are eligible to participate, as well as instrumentalists with six years of experience in the music industry or those holding an intermediate, advanced or Diploma level qualification. The first edition, held in Prague last year, was a great success. This year's event, set to take place in Malta, is expected to achieve similar success.
