The Safeguarding Commission has congratulated former PN Minister Joe Cassar on his appointment as Coordinator of the Focolare Movement's worldwide Safeguarding Commission.

In a statement on Facebook, the Commission publicly thanked Cassar for his dedicated service as a member of its Safeguarding Advisory Board since 2021.

"Over the past years, Dr Cassar has contributed his clinical expertise, thoughtful insights, and deep commitment to the protection and well-being of those we serve. His presence on the board has been of immense value," the Commission said.

While noting that Cassar will no longer be serving on the local Safeguarding Advisory Board, the Commission wished him success in his new international role.

"Dr Cassar will surely be missed, but we thank him for everything he has done and we wish him the best of luck for his new role," it added.

In reply, Cassar said that it had been a pleasure to work with the Malta Safeguarding Commission, which he described as an experience of growth.

"Safeguarding and helping vulnerable people and people who have been abused is an experience that remains ingrained in one's life. It is me who has to thank you (the Commission)," Cassar wrote on Facebook.
