The man who was shot in Birgu (Vittoriosa) yesterday died in hospital overnight, the police said.

In a statement Monday, the police said that they are treating the case as a homicide.

A 70-year-old man from Vittoriosa remains in custody as a suspect.

The victim, Kyle Mifsud, aged 33, resided in Cospicua (photo).

The police on Sunday said that the shooting incident had taken place in Qalb-ta' Gesu Street.

The police said that an argument had broken out prior to the shooting, and an injured man was found on the scene in an apartment block by the police.

The alleged aggressor fled the area but was found some minutes later by the police.
