Alex Borg is leading a PN delegation on an official two-day visit to Brussels, organised by the Head of the PN Delegation in the European Parliament, David Casa.

This visit forms part of the PN's ongoing commitment to strengthening its contribution to European politics and ensuring that the interests of Malta and Gozo are effectively represented at the European level, a statement by the party read.

This marks Alex Borg's first official visit to Brussels since becoming PN Leader and also serves as preparation for his participation in the upcoming European People's Party (EPP) Summit next week.

The delegation led by Alex Borg includes Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Beppe Fenech Adami and PN International Secretary Beppe Galea.

Throughout this visit, the PN Leader is engaging in a series of high-level meetings. Tuesday's talks began with a meeting with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, followed by discussions with the PN Delegation in the European Parliament, composed of MEPs David Casa, Roberta Metsola, and Peter Agius.

During this meeting, the PN reaffirmed its renewed commitment to ensuring that EU policies deliver concrete results for the Maltese and Gozitan people.

At the European Commission headquarters, Alex Borg met with European Commissioner Jessika Roswall, responsible for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, where he emphasised the importance of ensuring that EU laws and policies reflect the realities of small and peripheral islands like Malta.

In the afternoon, Borg held discussions with European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius, responsible for Defence and Space, during which they explored opportunities for Maltese companies in the space sector, Malta's potential role in the European defence project, and how Malta's constitutional neutrality can be respected while continuing to contribute to European peace and security.

Borg also met with EPP President Manfred Weber and EPP Vice President and Chief Whip Jeroen Lenaers, where discussions focused on how the PN can continue strengthening its role as a credible and proactive force in European politics, the party said.

The PN Leader also held meetings with Malta's Ambassador to Belgium and NATO, Vanni Xuereb, and Malta's Permanent Representative to the EU, Neil Kerr, where he underlined the importance of closer cooperation between Malta's diplomatic representation and the Opposition.

Alex Borg also visited former PN Leader and former Secretary General of the EPP Group Simon Busuttil at his office and congratulated him on his new role in the European Parliament.
