Sir Harry Luke Street in Mġarr saw extensive and holistic works, the government said.

During a visit to Mġarr, the Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia observed the completion of this infrastructural project, carried out through an investment of €700,000.

"Projects such as this one in Mġarr, along with others that have been completed or are underway across the country, are crucial infrastructural initiatives that the Public Works Department has intensified in recent months. These holistic projects are undertaken with a clear vision, to ensure peace of mind for residents while strengthening the safety and well-being of drivers who use these major residential roads," Parliamentary Secretary Farrugia explained.

The works carried out included: Construction of 350 metres of new pavements; Installation of new manholes to facilitate year-round maintenance; Laying of approximately 450 metres of new electricity and telecommunications cabling; Preparation of stormwater culverts to mitigate flooding in nearby fields; Construction of rubble walls along the fields to enhance safety; Installation of new street lighting; New water and drainage services for houses adjacent to Triq Temi Żammit; and 3,600 square metres of new asphalt.

The mayor of Mġarr, Paul Vella, stated that these works were very necessary, not only for the driver's safety but also for all those who use this main road, which leads to a number of areas within the locality of Mġarr.
