The second edition of inKimika explores the contemporary creative and collaborative potential of stone lithography at Atelier 10, under the direction of Jesmond Vassallo and builds on the success of its inaugural 2022 project. This lithography exhibition is open until January 4, 2026, and was officially opened in the presence of the Ambassadors of France and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, supporting the project.

Founded in 2020 by Vassallo, Atelier 10 is a contemporary printmaking studio in Malta dedicated to reviving and promoting the art of stone lithography through collaboration, education, and artistic exchange.

This year, the project not only brings together both local and international artists, but also pays tribute to an important Dutch figure in the studio's history Theo Elfrink (1923-2014), a lithographer whose dedication to the medium remains an enduring source of inspiration. Once again this year, French master lithographer Laurent Nicolaï is part of the exhibition, and will be welcomed for a special artist residency at Atelier 10 in early 2026.

All works created at Atelier 10 are printed using Theo Elfrink's original lithographic stones and press, generously donated by his family after his passing, a gesture that made the entire project possible. The restoration of this press marked the beginning of Vassallo's journey to rekindle and give a contemporary voice to lithography in Malta. Laurent Nicolaï's residency in 2026 will offer artists based in Malta a rare opportunity to discover the fascinating art of lithography and to explore the expressive possibilities of stone lithography through collaboration and creative exchange.
