The Phoenicia Malta is delighted to present Water Through Which the Dream Flows, a solo exhibition of recent watercolours by Kenneth Zammit Tabona, on view throughout December and into the New Year. This new body of work reveals a striking evolution in the artist's palette and approach, moving towards cooler tones, pastel delicacy, and a refined transparency that lends each composition a serene atmosphere.

Known for his lyrical use of colour and celebration of Mediterranean light, Zammit Tabona now turns away from bustling human scenes to focus on nature, architecture, and sky. Gardens, terraces, balustrades, and decorative objects appear as dreamlike motifs, often framed by curtains or windows that transform the landscape into a stage. Birds, drifting clouds, and distant towers add a quiet poetics of place, while touches of red and purple punctuate the otherwise tranquil rhythm.

The exhibition continues the artist's dialogue with the decorative arts and the idea of the garden as a cultivated dream space. Hot‑air balloons, jars, drapery, and finials conjure an operatic mood, blending fantasy with the Mediterranean environment.

Kenneth Zammit Tabona remains a central figure in Maltese cultural life, celebrated not only for his painting but also for his contributions to theatre, music criticism, and cultural management. This exhibition reaffirms his standing as an artist who reinvents his visual language while remaining anchored in a lifelong love of beauty and ornament.
