PN leader Alex Borg has announced that during a PN activity on Monday evening, the Nationalist Party will be publishing its financial accounts. 

While speaking on NET's programme, ANALIŻI, Borg stated that all of the PN's financial accounts will be published.

The Nationalist Party's has long been criticised for not publishing its financial accounts. The PL has said that by not publishing its party accounts in the last few years, the Nationalist Party has been breaching party financing law.

Last month, Borg pledged that all PN accounts will be made public within his first 100 days in office. Monday, 15 December, marks Borg's hundredth day as party leader.

Borg's first 100 days as Opposition leader will be commemorated in a party activity on Monday evening, beginning at 6:30pm. In this activity, the Nationalist Party will be outlining all the pledges that Borg has delivered from his leadership campaign over this summer, since narrowly being elected leader over Adrian Delia in September.

Borg said that with the PN doing so much from its seat in Opposition, "think of what we can do if entrusted in government."

He said that the PN wants to help Maltese and Gozitan people reach their ambitions. For instance, he declared that if elected to power, a PN government led by Borg will help young people by reaching new sectors that are not yet strong within Maltese lands, such as fintech and other emerging areas. A PN government would also work to bolster the quality of the Maltese tourism sector and economy. He mentioned that the Nationalist Party must be forward-looking, as it was when it brought the country independence, accession into the European Union, and when Malta dropped its Maltese Lira for the Euro.

"We will continue, in the coming months and years, to improve PN's credibility for people to believe that we can be a worthy, alternative government," Alex Borg said.

Borg observed that since he has taken charge of the Nationalist Party in the last few months, opinion polls indicate that the PN has decreased the gap to the PL government "considerably." He added that despite this progress, PN still remain behind the Labour Party, and therefore, in his view, "we are still the underdogs."

He called to keep building on its wave of momentum for PN to be back in power for Malta and Gozo. Borg aims for Malta to be "a destination of excellence" under his leadership.

The young PN leader attributed this momentum to his party's sustained close contact with people. He affirmed that this must continue in order for his party to achieve positive results and called for his members not to skip any house or town while reaching out to the people.

Borg appealed for people to keep donating to the Nationalist Party as the party shall continue to crowdfund. Through an upcoming crowdfunding marathon, the PN hopes receive donations to help it sustain its work, such as by paying its workers and continuing to promote its message and vision.

Borg said that his last marathon as PN leader raised some half a million euros.

Borg calls for Prime Minister to take action as Minister Galdes ignores resignation calls

Alex Borg sustained the Nationalist Party's call for Housing Minister Roderick Galdes to be removed from his ministerial position by the Prime Minister, after ignoring repeated calls for his resignation.

"As a party, we are requesting Galdes' resignation. In the absence of his resignation, we are asking the Prime Minister to take action," Borg declared.

These calls come in the revelation of certain property deals made by the Housing Minister.

PN Leader Alex Borg spoke about the latest story published concerning Roderick Galdes, stating that apart from knowing how skilled he is at securing bargains, "we have now also learnt that the Minister for Affordable Housing is equally adept at bartering." This follows revelations by the  Times of Malta that Galdes bartered a property in Xagħra for a plot of land in Għarb, in yet another deal with the same contractors from whom he acquired the duplex penthouse and garage at the price of €140,000. To make up for the difference between the €135,000 value of the apartment and the €100,000 value of the plot, the contractors carried out works on the site for Galdes, it was reported.

Borg recalled that these are the same individuals who were awarded €27 million in contracts by the Housing Authority, which falls under Roderick Galdes' political responsibility. In this regard, the PN Leader once again called for Roderick Galdes' resignation and asked the Prime Minister what he is waiting for to remove him.

He added that if Galdes, after all is said and done following investigations, is declared innocent, then he should be welcomed back. Borg said that Galdes is currently under investigation by both the National Audit Office (NAO) and the Standards Commissioner.

Borg stated that at the moment, "the number of conflicts of interest we have in the Housing Authority between Galdes and several contractors benefitting from large tenders from the Housing Authority raise serious doubts."

In regards to these "blatant conflicts of interest," Borg reminded viewers what former Malita chairperson Marlene Mizzi had alleged publicly last month: that Minister Galdes had interfered with Malita Investments Ltd's company affairs and that he was "overly familiar" with developers' dealings. Borg added that her successor, Johan Farrugia, recently handed in his resignation as Malita Executive Chair in recent weeks "without any valid reason, which continues to raise more doubts into the Housing Authority's actions."

Borg concluded that the PN demands accountability within the county's highest institutions.
