A man has died after he fell four storeys into a shaft in a residential building, police said on Thursday.

Police said that the victim was a 64-year-old man from Mosta.

The tragedy happened at around 3pm in a private residence in Triq il-Ħarifa in Mosta, and police said that the man had fallen around four storeys into a shaft.

A medical team was called on site, but the man was certified dead at the scene.

Magistrate Franco Agius is leading an inquiry while police investigations are also ongoing.
