On International Women’s Day, Momentum said that it stands in solidarity with the women who have become the heartbeat of social and environmental justice across our islands.

“We are honouring a year of relentless courage with a renewed call for fair pay, safe homes and modern workplaces,” the party said in a statement.

“Following daily contact Momentum had during the last twelve months, we witnessed the transformative power of women have on our islands, who stepped forward to take action. From the front lines of environmental NGOs fighting to save our remaining green lungs, to the tireless volunteers in animal shelters protecting those who cannot speak for themselves, these women are the best hope for a fairer Malta.”

Momentum Committee Member Katya Compagno said "We have been humbled by the advocates who speak up and also provide a sanctuary for women in vulnerable positions, activists who demand that green spaces be treated as a fundamental right rather than a luxury and those who actually fight for the rights of those that have no voice: our animals and those who demand justice in all areas. Strong and capable women who turn frustration into action and exhaustion into progress."

“We thank the women who are consistently leading the charge for a better future. Today, we don’t just praise them; we renew our commitment to amplify their voices.”

The party sought to move past the flowers of March 8th to demand legal protection for survivors of violence, the guarantee of safe homes, fair pay, and modern, equitable workplaces for all.

“We demand increased state funding and support for the NGOs who protect the vulnerable, the environment and animal welfare. Every locality must be prioritised for urban greening to ensure the physical and mental well-being of all residents,” the party said.
