Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the Hard Rock Hotel project in St Julian's, managed by the DB Group, which is currently in its final stages before opening this coming summer, a government statement said.

With an investment of approximately €320 million, the project is designed to strengthen Malta's position as a high-quality tourist destination. Developed with a strong emphasis on sustainability, the hotel is expected to become the flagship Hard Rock property for the European, African, and Middle Eastern regions. The development will feature 397 rooms, Malta's largest wellness facilities, and the country's largest shopping mall.

During the visit, Prime Minister Abela stated that this multi-million euro project serves as further proof of the confidence investors have in Malta, its economy, and the tourism industry.

He remarked that this investment is taking place amidst international challenges and instability in many other countries, highlighting that Malta offers stability and certainty. Abela noted that this positive climate has been recognized by international credit agencies like DBRS Morningstar and the International Monetary Fund.

Abela also referenced new regulations in the hospitality sector aimed at further elevating quality. He emphasized that tourism plays a crucial role in driving the strong economic growth the country is experiencing. He attributed these economic results to well-planned strategies and ambitious goals designed to generate growth aligned with the Malta Vision 2050, which focuses on quality and added value.

The Prime Minister observed that the tourism industry is not just growing but evolving. He reiterated that the government's goal is not only to consolidate past achievements but to push forward a more sustainable tourism model. He praised the efficiency of the project, noting how it progressed rapidly to completion in less than three years.

Silvio Debono, Chairperson of the DB Group, stated that the project encourages the company to expand its vision with confidence and ambition, pledging continued investment in Malta and the attraction of global brands.

Group CEO Robert Debono added that the project aims to attract visitors and residents who seek high quality, contributing more to the economy with a lower environmental impact and less overcrowding.
