Pembroke residents are organising a protest tomorrow against government plans to transfer a large plot of public land to Valletta Football Club.
The activist group Moviment Graffitti announced that residents are strongly opposed to the proposed football campus near Triq Gabriele Henin, which would be built next to a protected Natura 2000 site.
Opponents argue that the development will destroy beautiful virgin land and significantly degrade their quality of life.
The project reportedly includes two large football grounds capable of hosting thousands of spectators, as well as allowances for hotels, shopping malls, restaurants, and mass entertainment events like concerts.
Moviment Graffitti warned that the development would bring severe noise, light pollution, and major traffic to the area, threatening to turn the locality into another Paceville.
The group insists that sports facilities should be built in alternative locations to protect the environment and local residents, who have vowed to fight the plans with all their strength.
