Traffic Accident leaves one dead

A 21-year-old man from Mosta died yesterday as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident which took place at Pwales, St Paul’s Bay, at around 3.30 yesterday morning.

A police report said two cars were involved in a head-on collision, a Honda Civic driven by the 21-year-old from Mosta and a Toyota Hilux driven by a 42-year-old from Lija who had a 33-year-old woman passenger.

Both cars suffered extensive damage.

The Civil Protection Unit was called to extricate the young man from the car. An ambulance took the three people to hospital. Despite medical efforts to save him, the young man died later in hospital. The other two are being kept in hospital under observation.

Duty Magistrate Dr Myriam Hayman was informed of the tragic accident and appointed various experts to help in the inquiry.

Police investigations are being conducted by the Qawra district police.
