Former Radio 101 editor Richard Muscat and journalist Gordon Pisani were ordered to pay Lm600 after a court ruled that a news bulletin broadcast in April 1997 defamed former Police Commissioner Lawrence Pullicino.

The court ruled that the former Radio 101 editor and journalist failed to support the allegations made in the news bulletin. The court also refused to accept that the information broadcast amounted to fair comment.

Mr Muscat and Mr Pisani were to pay Lm100 and Lm500 respect-

ively.

Dr Gavin Gulia and Dr Luciano Busuttil appeared for Dr Pullicino.

Mr Justice Geoffrey Valencia presided over the court.
