Canada’s new ambassador to Malta will be Alex Himelfarb, the departing Clerk of the Privy Council, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced last week.
Mr. Himelfarb, 58, had been Canada’s top public servant under Liberal prime ministers Jean Chrétien and Paul Martin and played a key role in assisting Mr. Harper’s transition to office in the 23 January election.
He will also be responsible for representing Canada’s interests in Albania, San Marino and Italy.
