Artist Gabriel A. Pellegrini presented one of his paintings L’Occhio del Ciclone (The Eye of the Cyclone) to Middlesea Group Chairman Mario C. Grech recently. This painting will be included as an addition to Middlesea Group’s fine art collection.

Mr Pellegrini, a former senior manager of Middlesea Insurance, had come up with the idea, years back, of printing company calendars – ‘Focus on Maltese Art’ – in honour of local art and artists.

Following disasters such as Katrina, Rita and Wilma, the painting presented to Middlesea Group highlights the devastation caused by Mother Nature.

Mr Pellegrini, an art lover, art collector and the author of a biographical synopsis on sculptor Chev. Vincent Apap (1909–2003), is the son of the late artist Dr Vincenzo Maria Pellegrini (1911–1997). He will soon launch a website as a contribution to Maltese art and artists.
