Spirit Of 1919 to reign during Sting concert

Malta Independent Sunday, 21 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Local wine producer Marsovin is to launch the new vintage of its limited edition range of wines 1919 at a VIP party backstage following the Sting concert being held at Luxol on 6 June.

This was announced in a press conference held at the Marsovin Cellars in Marsa by Jeremy Cassar, general manager and director of Marsovin Sales & Distribution Ltd, together with John Gera on behalf of the Civil Protection Department and Anton Attard and Dr Nigel Camilleri on behalf of NnG Promotions.

Mr Gera assured everyone that the organisers of the Sting concert were maintaining standards in which security and safety were of paramount importance. He added that NnG Promotions had always collaborated with the CPD and went to great lengths to assure that all criteria of crowd safety were met.

The range of 1919 wines is a reflection of Marsovin’s commitment to the arts due to the novel concept of commissioning a different local artist to create a unique collection of paintings to adorn the labels of this premium wine every year. The local artist this year is Kenneth Zammit Tabona, who was inspired by Greek mythology to create his works of art.

These same works of art will be officially unveiled on the night to all Golden Circle Ticket holders following the concert with the first official tasting of the wine. The wines, which are produced entirely from hand-picked grapes, harvested in family-owned Maltese vineyards, yield very limited quantities so Marsovin individually numbers each bottle to verify its authenticity.

On the night patrons will also be entertained by top local band Fakawi during the after-party to round off the evening in true art style.
