The Electrical Importers Association of Malta will be the hosts of this year’s assembly of the European Union of Electrical Wholesalers, spokesman Etienne Bonello Dupuis announced yesterday.
Speaking at a business breakfast organised by the association, Mr Bonello Dupuis said that the assembly will take place between 7 and 11 June at the Radison SAS Golden Sands Resort in Ghajn Tuffieha.
The Electrical Importers Association, which includes all the leading companies in the sector, became a member of the European Union of Electrical Wholesalers in March 2004. The European association currently has 855 members under its umbrella, with over 70,000 employees, a market turnover in excess of 30 billion euros and around 4,900 selling points.
The assembly being held in Malta will include an address by the EU Commissioner for Energy and by other leading associations in the industry. Topics to be discussed include EU directives that will reduce energy consumption in the EU and the fight against counterfeit products that have now penetrated the electrical installation and lighting industry.
A presentation by the Secretary General of Eurocommerce is also part of the programme. Over 150 wholesalers and leading manufacturers will be present for the event which is being sponsored by leading manufacturers such as GEWISS spa, ABB, Draka and Milantech.
