As a precautionary measure Cadbury in the UK and Ireland is conducting a recall of a small number of product lines sold in the UK and Ireland.
A very small number of these products were found to contain minute traces of salmonella, well below any level that has been shown to lead to illness. Cadbury has identified the source of the problem and rectified it, and is taking steps to ensure these particular products are no longer available for sale in the UK and Ireland.
Cadbury has specifically identified which batches of these products may have been affected. None of the affected batches have been exported to other countries.
However, over the last few days, we have become aware that there is consumer confusion as to why the company withdrew these products in the UK and Ireland and not in other territories where they are imported. The company therefore felt that is it appropriate, to be consistent, to extend the withdrawal to other markets where the product is available to consumers.
The products affected are:
• 250 gram – Cadbury Dairy Milk Turkish
• 250 gram – Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel
• 250 gram – Cadbury Dairy Milk Mint
• Cadbury Dairy Milk 8 chunk
• 1 kilogram – Cadbury Dairy Milk
• Cadbury Dairy Milk Button Easter Egg – 105 gram
• Cadbury Freddo 10p
The company emphasised that no other products sold by Cadbury outside the UK and Ireland are affected and consumers can continue to enjoy Cadbury products with confidence.
The decision on the recall was made in consultation with the UK Food Standards Agency with whom Cadbury has worked closely.
