The council of the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses has written to Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi expressing its concern regarding the fact that negotiations on health reforms have not been concluded, even more so now that the transfer to the Mater Dei Hospital is imminent.

The MUMN said it had been informed that concrete technical meetings on health reform were to start in October last year but to date, no discussions have been held on the matter.

The council called for an urgent meeting with the authorities, adding that it hoped that the unions would be represented during the discussions.
