MIA Employees’ suggestion policy

Malta Independent Thursday, 24 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

MIA firmly believes that the hands-on experience of its employees is vital to the ongoing enhancements that the company undertakes in order to improve the quality of service to its customers.

One of the most effective methods is the employees’ suggestion policy that has been in effect for the past three years. A good number of suggestions are forwarded on a regular basis and each one is given proper attention by the company’s management. In most of the cases, the suggestions are deemed valid and are eventually implemented.

The suggestions put forward by the employees not only address internal issues to improve their work environment but also refer to the service MIA provides to its customers. Suggestions that have been implemented vary from improved restrooms for employees, environmental-related procedures such as official company documents sent by e-mail rather than printed, and access to the airside shops whereby all airport employees are allowed to make purchases. The introduction of a of shrink-wrapping baggage machine, public internet-access facilities and better use of olives that are grown on the land around Malta International Airport were all introduced after being suggested by the employees.

To acknowledge such positive interest, a group of MIA employees were treated to dinner at the Del Borgo Wine Bar and were served with typical Maltese delicacies accompanied by locally-produced wine. Similar events are organised by MIA on a regular basis as a sign of appreciation for the commitment and sense of belonging its employees show to ensure that the environment at work is constantly improved for the benefit of all airport users.
