Fiona Schininà, a relationship officer at BOV’ Birkirkara Branch and Tania Camilleri, Manager of BOV’s Attard Branch, have won the 2006 BOV Employee of the Year award and BOV Branch Manager of the Year awards.
The awards were presented to Tania and Fiona by the Bank’s Chairman, Roderick Chalmers and Chief Executive Officer, Tonio Depasquale, respectively, during an event held recently. Also present for the awards presentation was BOV’s Chief Officer, Operations, Igino Xuereb.
Introducing the awards, Igino Xuereb said this was the first year that Bank of Valletta is naming its Employee of the Year – an award instituted subsequent to feedback received from employees. Branch and Unit Managers were invited to nominate an employee from their unit for this Award. Mr Xuereb said that, in total, the Bank received 40 nominations. These were presented to a panel of 50 employees representing different units and grades, who voted for the BOV Employee of the Year.
The BOV Employee of the Year, Fiona Schinina’, was the employee who best displayed a number of qualities on which the nominations were judged. These included characteristics such as performing “beyond the call of duty” to improve service, quality or the bank’s image; exemplifying professionalism and dedication to excellent service by putting forth the extra effort; making outstanding contributions of significance to the Bank to fulfill its mission and demonstrating exemplary performance of activities that are above and beyond the scope of assigned responsibilities.
Igino Xuereb said that Tania Camilleri, as the BOV Branch Manager of the Year award, was the branch manager who best displayed a number of qualities, particularly the ability to lead and inspire the team by creating a positive environment and a capability of developing and growing people into effective performers by taking interest and concern about her team.
Fiona and Tania were presented with an original glass trophy to mark their achievement together with a shield which has been engraved with their name and which they will keep for one year.
