An automatic lifter for use by children with special needs has been donated to the Senglea Primary School by HSBC Cares For Children Fund (HCCF). This initiative was also supported by the schoolchildren themselves who participated by collecting some funds.

This initiative is part of an ongoing commitment to support Senglea Primary School.

Last year, HCCF supported a pilot project at the same school with the internationally acclaimed Helen O’Grady Academy.

The dynamic programme is intended to help children improve their self-esteem while giving them a more positive approach to life. The curriculum is therapeutic and educational and gives a lot of importance to language skills.

As a result, a marked improvement in spoken English as well as creative writing was achieved. The Malta branch of the Helen O’Grady Academy is run by Alan Montanaro. Over 50,000 children worldwide attend the fun-filled programme.

This year HCCF is continuing with this exercise at the school.

During the first and second school terms, the Helen O’Grady Academy is once again organising a hands-on educational programme giving the children the benefit to explore their inherent abilities through its dynamic curriculum.

HCCF has also distributed sets of the popular Puttinu and Toninu packs, which include an illustrated hardback book and an audio cassette.

“This latest donation to Senglea Primary is one initiative in a series of long-term projects undertaken by HSBC Cares For Children Fund, aimed at supporting the school and giving opportunities to children to gain the appropriate skills required to develop into empowered young individuals,” said HCCF Chairperson, Catherine Gonzi.
