Former Italian Prime Minister and Milan president Silvio Berlusconi congratulated Island Hotels group’s director of leisure sales Trevor Zahra for successfully hosting the Milan team during their training camp in Malta at the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort & Spa, a hotel statement said.

The resort was chosen by Milan as their base for eight days during which they conducted an intense training camp prior to the start of the second half of the Italian football season. Their training camp was interrupted briefly over the weekend to allow the team to fly up to Milan to face Juventus in the Luigi Berlusconi Cup, a match that Milan won 3-2.

Mr Zahra said: “We are very proud that the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort was chosen to host Milan during their stay in Malta. This is yet again another important event for the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort & Spa who has hosted other major events, including the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting last year, as well as a number of celebrities, including Brigitte Nielsen and Bob Geldof, over the past few months.”

Mr Zahra added that the publicity surrounding the Milan trip has no doubt helped highlight Malta as a tourist destination and hoped that further events such as this will continue to be organised in the future.
