Thirty-two HSBC Bank employees, who way back in 1981 had joined Mid-Med Bank Ltd, celebrated their silver anniversary by participating in the 34U campaign. Over the past 25 years, these employees have spent hours seeing to customer needs, embracing changes and achieving targets. In what was a less technological era then, they can also recall a recent time when even simple operations used to be very laborious and used to take hours when in today’s age the same operations take only a matter of minutes.
To celebrate this landmark event, and to compensate for the environmental damage caused through the use of paper in those days which now has been superseded by the use of paper-less technology, the Bank’s employees decided to contribute directly towards Malta’s environment by planting 29 Aleppo trees at Salina Park, as part of the current 34U Campaign.
“Planting trees is a wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary and I would encourage other employees to mark the milestones in their careers in a similar manner,” said HSBC Bank Malta plc’s Chief Executive Officer, Shaun Wallis.
The event, initiated and organised by Edward Duncan and Mario Camilleri, turned out to be a successful one. It also served as a get together, where memories of the initial days and years at the Bank were recalled and recounted, obviously with a pinch of nostalgia for days gone by!
