AX Foundation Helps Little Sisters of the Poor

Malta Independent Saturday, 27 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

With a view of helping the Little Sisters of the Poor at Hamrun, who have recently built additional rooms and refurbished their premises, the AX Foundation last month raised the sum of Lm1,030 in a wine-tasting event which was held at one of the vaults at the Valletta Waterfront.

This old vault was made available through the courtesy of AX Holdings. The evening was very well patronised with the attendance of around 250 persons who besides helping to raise funds, had the opportunity to taste the exquisite wines provided by Marsovin. Complimentary entertainment was provided by the Happy Guitars – a team of strolling mandolin and guitar players. Voluntary staff from the Victoria Hotel and Sunny Coast Resort, assisted by five ITS students went round to ensure that the guests also enjoyed the various delicious savories prepared by the kitchen staff of the Victoria Hotel to complement the wine.

The money raised will be utilised to acquire night stands which will enhance the excellent refurbishment of the premises.

Also in December, the AX Foundation was instrumental in the organisation of a combined bazaar for three entities, namely, The Little Sisters of the Poor, The Mission Fund and The Hospice Movement. The sum raised on this occasion was Lm1,500.

In the first year of its existence, the AX Foundation has distributed well over Lm10,000 to charitable institutions as well as deserving individuals and is at present planning its activities programme for the current year through which other charitable institutions and individuals would benefit.
