St Martin’s College held an open day yesterday for prospective students in its new sixth form, which will be opening its doors at the beginning of the next scholastic year.

The college believes that, through an exciting, effective and personalised educational programme, students may value learning and creativity while being equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to face new challenges confidently in a fast-changing world.

The sixth form will offer a science course, a mathematics and information technology course and an arts course, as well as a course in commerce. There are various subjects on offer that satisfy the requirements for entry to the University of Malta and universities in the United Kingdom.

The sixth form has a team of qualified, professional lecturers who will lead students to academic success and general formation. Each student will be assigned a tutor who will monitor the student’s progress in all areas of study.

First year sixth form students are to complete 100 hours of community service with children with special needs, the elderly and other people who need help. Students will be encouraged to participate in the sporting, drama and film activities that will be organised by the college.

There is no uniform for St Martin’s College sixth form students but students are expected to go to school appropriately dressed. Maltese students attending the college will receive the government stipend.
