Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Harry Vassallo presented the party candidate for Gozo, Victor Galea, yesterday together with their proposals for the general election during a press conference held in Gozo.

“Victor Galea’s candidature shall give the opportunity to those who have the vote in Gozo for them to change the system of clientelism which has been keeping Gozo’s economy from moving forward. He has been chosen by AD’s Regional Committee for Gozo because of the enthusiasm he has shown during the last few years which lead to several successes for Gozo in different sectors,” said Dr Vassallo.

Dr Vassallo mentioned the many successes Mr Galea helped to achieve in the name of AD, among which his efforts to save Ta’ Cenc, Ramla l-Hamra and Hondoq ir-Rummien.

“It is our great satisfaction that we lead others to talk about the need for new jobs to be created in Gozo by means of investment in alternative energy, information technology and more back office work and that government acknowledges AD’s policy that Gozo would benefit if the island were powered completely by alternative sources of energy,” added Dr Vassallo.

“An elected AD MP for Gozo will work hard to reform Gozo’s administration to become fully transparent, accountable, democratic, responsible and clean, to prevent nepotism and clientelism, to create a framework whereby each individual is informed of his or her rights and duties without the need to feel enslaved to a particular political party,” he said.

“AD is presenting over 100 substantive and innovative proposals for the island-region of Gozo. Most of them lead to the creation of new, modern and sustainable jobs in Gozo. The document also includes proposals for a radical reform in public transport in Gozo, which has been neglected for so many years; proposals for creating new, modern and sustainable jobs in Gozo, proposals for reform in the Gozo Ministry, in public administration and a fully democratic Gozo,” said Dr Vassallo.
